In my opinion, this series is not a standalone series. Some readers have said that you can read each book individually, but when it comes to this book especially, you really should have read at least the first book, Breakaway. Breakaway is free on all platforms and is Lucas and Aubrey’s story. I’ve been waiting for this book, or Jayce and Layla’s story, since that book came out and I can honestly say it was well worth the wait! Ali Parker did an amazing job of pulling everyone in, but still making this all about Jayce and Layla! Anyone who knows me, should know that it’s hard for me to be speechless! Yet, this book is just beyond words! Jayce and Layla have loved each other, since they were kids, but never would admit their feelings for one another. With Lucas’ surprise to Aubrey, that leaves Jayce without his best friend and his twin sister. It leaves Layla without her roommate and best friend, since they were in diapers. Jayce is struggling as it is with being Captain of the Hockey Team, Captain of the Baseball Team, not being able to pass Chemistry, panic attacks, feeling alone, and the last semester of College….What can he do to Graduate? Layla is also having her own issues too. She’s been hiding bruises, covering them the best she can, but sometimes the best isn’t enough. How much longer can she go and who is causing them? She’s also struggling with hitting outside pitches and her Coach wants improvement. Will she be able to do what her Coach asks, while making up classes for the semester she took off and taking the required classes for her finale semester, so she can graduate on time? When Aubrey throws Jayce and Layla into a catchers mitt of her own, and they move in together, will their secrets come out? Will they finally share their feelings? This is an amazing book I love the Jaye and Layla. I hope there is more on them and their future. I would like to see how they handle married life and kids...
AWESOME BOOK!! Loved the whole series!!
I have read all of the other books in this series! Great read! I love sports and love to read stories about people who play sports! This book kept me glued to the pages to see what happened next. Jayce and Layla are both full of anxiety and self doubts. It is great to see how the story ends!
Just could not get through this. Change in pov's and too many characters too soon had my head spinning . Even as part of a series, the author assumed too much knowledge on the part of the reader.Pushed hard to get into it past 50 per cent, but simply could not get invested in Jayce and Layla. Not enough plot tension, given lack of likable characters . Not good. J.
I received an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. I absolutely loved this book! I've loved all the books in this series. I have been waiting especially for Homerun because in the first book Breakaway we meet Layla and Jayce, and of course they're MFEO. Each subsequent book you get a tease of these two. But, I was dying to know who was hitting Layla! Well, Homerun answered all for me. It was worth the wait. I can't wait for the next one!!! I would recommend reading the series in order. I know you don't have to, but it's better if you do because characters from previous books show up again, that way you won't miss a thing!!!
Book 4 in a series but it could be a stand alone, however I don't suggest it. The other books build up these two characters. Layla is such a great strong character. Lots of personality but nobody can figure out what she is hiding and what's up with all the recent "accidents" she is having that's causing the bruising on her. Jacob her best male friend and Aubrey can't figure it out will the secret love of her life find out and help her? Jayce has loved his twin sisters best friend Layla since they were kids. He has fantasized about her even more. When Aubrey suggests Layla move in with him to take her place since she is moving out can Jayce handle having Layla so close. Juggling two sports and a class he can't pass will Layla be his rock or his fire? See how these two secret crushes figure each other out.
